Fun Flick Friday #6

It's already Friday?! Wow, this week has flown by. No complaints here, though. ;)

Before I jump into FFF, let me just give a big THANK YOU to my loyal 33 followers and all of my readers! I understand that 33 may not seem like a lot to someone with over 1,000 followers..but it sure feels like a lot to me and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for pretending to be interested in what I have to say ;) Just kidding. But really, thanks y'all! You make me smile!

Also, Jordan and I got up this morning and ran a mile and a half and I am dying. Slowly, but surely dying. It's obvious that I'm not a natural runner, but I am determined to become one...whether it kills me or not. Please say a prayer that I don't croak over and die during the 5K that I signed up to run next Saturday morning -- it's really looking like that may be the outcome as of right now. Yikes.

Now, for Fun Flick Friday. Once again, I chose a romantic comedy. There's just so many of them and they're all just so good. Darn you, romantic comedies.
Anyway, today is all about....

The Ugly Truth (2009)

Oh, Gerard Butler. You make me melt every time. Not only with your looks, but with that adorable Irish accent of yours. Mmmm mmmm...

But, he's not the only star in this movie. We can't forget the lovely and beautiful Katherine Heigl.
Gah, she is so cute. Love her! Don't love what she said about Grey's Anatomy that one time..but still love her. And miss Izzie on Grey's :( But, that's another story for another day.

If you haven't seen The Ugly Truth yet, you should. Like, right now. It came out a few years ago so it's probably already made it to the $5 DVD bin at Wal-Mart so go buy it right now and watch it tonight. You won't regret it, it's hilarious.

Quick synopsis: Abby (Katherine Heigl) is an uptight TV producer and Mike (Gerard Butler) is a laid back "man-whore" who hosts a late night talk show called "The Ugly Truth" that is basically him giving his thoughts and opinions on the reasons that relationships don't ever work and why women are crazy and psycho. His TV show gets picked up by Abby's TV channel and she's forced to work with him while he attempts to fix her love life, or lack thereof, really.
 Read the full synopsis: here.

________________

Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

Mike Chadway: Rule #3, men are very visual. We have to change your look.
Abby Richter: What's wrong with my look?
Mike Chadway: [From red band clip] Abby, you're a very attractive woman, but you're completely inaccessible. You're all about comfort and efficiency!
Abby Richter: What's wrong with comfort and efficiency?
Mike Chadway: Well nothing, except no one wants to f*ck it.

Mike Chadway: I want to thank you for getting me this gig, I would never have gotten it without you. You and I? We make good TV.
Abby Richter: *YOU* make imbecillic trash watched by house-bound inbreds who are so busy with their hands down their pants they can't change the remote.

Abby Richter: [gushing about Colin] He's such a great guy, right?
Mike Chadway: [sarcastically] Yeah, he's dreamy.
Abby Richter: Yeah, and he fits all 10 of the criteria on my checklist.
Mike Chadway: Right, though weren't items 1 through 9 something to do with him pretty much being gay?

Mike Chadway: [about Colin] I'm going to make this guy your b*tch.
Abby Richter: I don't want a b*tch.
Mike Chadway: [to Abby, on how to attract Colin] You have to be two people. The saint and the sinner. The librarian and the stripper.

Now here are some of my favorite clips:

Ok, this first clip is from the scene where Mike has just given Abby a pair of "vibrating briefs" before she goes out to dinner with her co-workers and her boyfriend, Colin. Right before she leaves for dinner, she puts the underwear on and this is what happens....

This next scene is right before Abby is about to go on a date with Colin (I think) and Mike says he needs to teach her how to flirt...

And this is last clip is from the scene where Abby and Colin are on their first date and Mike is guiding her through it by earpiece...

I personally laughed throughout the entire movie, but these were just some of the funniest scenes that I could find clips of.

And if you have yet to see this movie, here's the full original trailer:

Please, do yourself a favor and go rent/buy this movie soon and watch it -- it is hilarious!

Warning: it is rated R and does have some very bad language and crude humor in it. Beware!

Have you guys already seen The Ugly Truth? What did you think about it? What are your favorite quotes and scenes? Let me know!

Hope y'all have a fab weekend!! xo

Fun Flick Friday #5

It's FRIIIIIII-DAAAAAY!
Welcome to the weekend!
Hallelujah, praise the good Lord Jesus.
Anybody have any super exciting plans for this weekend?
I don't. :(
Just kidding, y'all. My brother and his girlfriend Kait are coming to stay with us this weekend and I'm super pumped about that. I love getting to spend time with them. We don't get to do that very often anymore since they're all grown up and college grads with big people jobs and whatnot. So we love to have them home!
I'll be working all day Saturday and Sunday, but I'll get to relax a little Sunday night and watch the wonderful Miss USA Pageant with J!
It's just kind of a little tradition for us. We always watch it together, pick our favorites, and try to predict who is going to win from the very beginning. Typical girly activities, you know.
I'm super pumped this year though because the beautiful Ali Fedotowsky from The Bachelor/Bachelorette is one of the judges! She's been my favorite bachelorette by far and  I think she'll do a great job judging. Go Ali!

Before I jump into Fun Flick Friday, I just wanted to shed some light on who the people with me in my birthday recap pictures are. I realized after some very sweet ladies brought it to my attention that I didn't tell you who anybody was! Whoops. I was kind of in a hurry that morning. Sorry, sorry please forgive me!
Left to right:
My boyfriend, David
My dad's girlfriend's daughter/one of my best friends, Kelly
Yours truly, Haley
My very best friend, Jordan
Hunter's (my brother) girlfriend, Kait
My brother, Hunter
My dad's girlfriend Pam, myself, and my sweet Daddy
Alrighty..now it's time for Fun Flick Friday!
I think it's time for a comedy, what do y'all think?
I've been doing romantic comedies, but I think it's time for a full-on comedy
So, I've chosen...

Step Brothers (2008)

First off, can I just say that I cannot believe that this movie came out almost FOUR years ago?! Gosh, time is flying. Whew.
Anyway, I have to admit that while extremely hilarious..this movie is also chock-full of extremely crude humor. But nonetheless, still hilarious.

Personally, I don't think they could've chosen two better people to play the main characters. I have always been, and probably always will be, a huge Will Ferrell fan.
He can be a lot to handle sometimes, but he keeps me laughing. I hadn't seen too many movies before this one that John C. Reilly played in other than The Perfect Storm, and What's Eating Gilbert Grape, both of which he played rather small parts in.
Regardless, he just has that feel and look about him that screams "If I hadn't made it big in Hollywood, I probably would be 40 years old and living with my dad." Am I right, or am I right?!

And even though her part wasn't as imperative to the movie, I'm a huge Mary Steenburgen fan. She's just great, in my opinion. And I just think she's gorgeous.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, I strongly recommend it. But for you mothers out there, make sure your kids are asleep. Sound asleep.

Quick synopsis: Brennan (Will Ferrell) is forty years old, unemployed, and still lives with his mother (Mary Steenburgen). Dale (John C. Reilly) is also forty years old, unemployed, but living with his father (Richard Jenkins). Brennan's mother and Dale's father get married and the boys become "step brothers" and are forced to live together and start out hating each other, but eventually form a strange and immature bond with one another that goes on to cause many, many problems.
Read the full synopsis here.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes

Dale Doback: [after hearing Brennan sing] You have the voice of an angel. Your voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus.
Brennan Huff: I swear, I'm so pissed off at my mom. As soon as she's of age, I'm putting her in a home.

Dale Doback: Why are you so sweaty?
Brennan Huff: I was watching Cops.

Dale Doback: The only reason you're living here is because me and my dad decided that your mom was really hot, and maybe we should just both bang her, and we'll put up with the retard in the meantime.

Nancy Huff: Brennan, Denise called and she said she can't spend New Years Eve with you because she's not your girlfriend...she's your therapist
Brennan Huff: Is that what she said? She's a rascal.

Dale Doback: I manage a baseball team.
Nancy Huff: Oh, little league?
Dale Doback: Fantasy league.

Now for some of my favorite clips:

This first one takes place right after Brennan and Dale ask their parents' permission (yes, they're 40 and still ask permission for things) to build bunk beds...

Funny story: Two nights ago, J and I were about to work out in my room, which is pretty small. So to make room, I took my computer chair out and put it in the hallway, and I also took Rue's bed and her 13248753 toys to the hallway and I walked back in my room and said, "Wow, my room feels a lot bigger now." And right on cue, J goes "SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!"
Hahahahaha, I love her.

This clip is a montage of the job interviews that Dale and Brennan are forced to have after their parents tell them that they're selling the house to travel the world and the boys have to figure out how to live on their own...
Warning: The F bomb is dropped quite a few times in this video, so turn the volume down or pop in some headphones if you have any lingering ears around!

This last clip is from one of the few scenes in the movie after Brennan and Dale's parents have put the house on the market and B & D are trying to keep the house from being sold, so they invent some hilarious ways to scare people off..

And just in case you've never seen the movie, here's the original trailer:

As long as you enjoy a good laugh and don't mind some crude humor and F bombs here and there...I promise you'll find yourself laughing for 2 hours straight.

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend, y'all!! xo

Fun Flick Friday #4

FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY!!
Who's excited?! I'm guessing, everybody.
I would be much more excited if I didn't have to work this weekend. But then again, I have to work every weekend. Oh, well. At least I work in an ice cream stand and can have hand-dipped Hershey's ice cream whenever I want it. Silver linings, right? ;)

Before I jump into Fun Flick Friday, I have a quick bloggy question.
I just went back through some of my older blog posts and noticed that I had many more comments on my blog posts than I had been receiving in my e-mails, and I just realized that they've been getting sent to my spam mail! :( If you have ever sent me a comment and I have not responded, I am SO sorry and promise, promise, promise that I'm not a horrible person. I just didn't know that I had a comment!
Is anyone an e-mail/blogger wizard that knows how to remedy this? I have played around with my spam controls and cannot figure it out to save my life. I'll probably just have to keep regularly checking my spam folders which is super annoying because I get my email to my phone and hardly ever check it on the computer. But if needed, I'll do it for you guys :)
If anybody has any advice, please help!!

One more piece of exciting news...when did I get to 32 followers and 1400 page views?! Ahhhh you guys are so awesome and thank you so, so much for making my blogging experience so great thus far! xoxo

Now, it's time for FUN FLICK FRIDAY!!
Ding ding whoop whoop pow pow, who's ready?
Did anyone guess the movie from my hint yesterday?
lightning = glass.

.......
Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
Love, love, love this movie.
Seen it 13216843 times. Really.
If you haven't yet, you must.
And it's one of those movies that plays regularly on TBS, TNT, ABCfam, OXYGEN. And even on the HBO channels sometime. So no excuses to have not seen it by the end of the summer! ;)

This movie stars the oh-so-wonderful, sweet, beautiful...
Reese Witherspoon

with the oh-so-handsome, charming, amazing...
 Patrick Dempsey

and we can't forget the oh-so-rugged, sexy, and great...
 Josh Lucas

Quick synopsis: A girl (Reese Witherspoon as Melanie) from a small, redneck, southern town in Alabama gets married (to Josh Lucas, as Jake) right out of high school and decides this life just isn't for her. She up and moves to NYC and starts a new life as a high fashion designer, falls in love and becomes engaged to the NYC mayor's son (Patrick Dempsey as Andrew). Unfortunately, she's not legally divorced yet and has to head back to Alabama to settle things and runs into some unforeseen obstacles.
See the full synopsis here.

Just like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, this movie is the perfect combo of serious and funny, a true romantic comedy. And you get to look at P.Dempsey 80% of the movie; you know it's a winner just because of that. ;)

Here a few of my favorite quotes/lines from the movie:

Melanie (to an old friend from home): Look at you....you have a baby! ...In a bar.

Young Melanie: What do you want to be married to me for, anyhow?
Young Jake
: So I can kiss you anytime I want.

Jake: [not recognizing Melanie in her sunglasses] Can I help you?
Melanie Carmichael: Well, for starters, you can get your stubborn ass down here and give me a divorce.
Jake: You're shittin' me, right?
Melanie Carmichael: I never fully understood that expression, but no, I am not "shitting" you.
Jake: The only reason I ain't signing is cause you've turned into some hoity-toity Yankee bitch, and I'd like nothing better right now than to piss you off.

Mayor Kate Hennings: [smacks mosquito] One down, a six million to go.
Earl Smooter: Careful, you just killed the state bird of Alabama!

Jake: You show up here, after seven years, without so much as a "Hey there, Jake, remember me... your wife!" Or a, "Hi honey, lookin' good. How's the family?"
Melanie Carmichael
: You expect me to tell you look good? What, did they run out of soap at the Piggly Wiggly since I left?

Hilarious.
Here's a clip from one of the funniest scenes...

And here's the original movie trailer..

Have y'all already seen Sweet Home Alabama? If so, do you love it as much as I do? What are your favorite quotes or scenes? Let me know!!

Wishing you all a super fabulous Memorial Day Weekend!! xo

Fun Flick Friday #3

It's Friiiiiiiiday!
And I'm excited for two reasons:
1. It's Friday.
2. My birthday is tomorrow!!

So excited -- expect a full recap on Monday ;)

But as for today, I'm doing another Fun Flick Friday!
 Today's flick...

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

 I love this movie, y'all.
It's the perfect definition of a "romantic comedy" -- a perfect combination of funny and sweet.
Starring the wonderful and very beautiful...
Kate Hudson

and the amazing and very SEXY...
Matthew McConaughottie. McConaughey.

Long story short ---> Kate (Andie) makes a bet that she can get rid of a guy (Matthew/Ben) in 10 days. Matthew (Ben) makes a bet that he can get a girl (Kate/Andie) to fall in love with him in 10 days.
See the problem??
Read the full synopsis here.

Here are some of my favorites quotes and clips from the movie:

Andie: Does Princess Sophia want to come out and play?
Ben
: Who's Princess Sophia?
[Andie points at his crotch]
Andie
: Little, big, little, big... I don't know... we will find out!
Ben
: You can't name my member... Princess Sophia.
Andie
: Yes, I can!
Ben
: If you are gonna name my... member, you have to name it something hyper masculine. Something like Spike, or Butch, or Krull the Warrior King!

Hahahahahahahaha. Gets me every time!

Andie: You can't lose something you never had.

Andie: Our love fern! You let it die!
Ben
: No, honey, it's just sleeping.

This is a MUST see -- definitely a "feel-good" movie if you're ever feeling down :)

Here's the trailer..

If you haven't yet seen this movie and you don't have big plans for the weekend...now you do!! ;)

For those of you have seen it, did you love it as much as I did? Are y'all in love with Matthew as much as I am? What about Kate?

Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!! xo

Fun Flick Friday #2

My dearest Friday, I would normally say that it is so nice to see you...but I have to take an exam today. So therefore, I'm not quite as excited to see you. Please don't take this offensively. I will be thrilled to see you next week because that means I will be DONE with exams, papers, work, and SCHOOL in general.
Hollaaaa.

But, I still hope that you lovelies are having a beyond wonderful start to the weekend!! :D

Before I get on with today's post, I just want to tell y'all about a fabulous giveaway being hosted by Shanna over at Because Shanna Said So!
She's giving away this little beauty...
 from the Derng Etsy shop!
She's offering so many opportunities to win, so head over and enter!
I mean, c'mon..who wouldn't want this arm candy?!

Now for today's post...
I'm back for round two of Fun Flick Friday! Check here for round one.

I don't have to tell you that I think this is a wonderful movie for two reasons..
1. I'm talking about it so obviously it's great.
2. I'm hoping that you've all seen this classic and therefore already know how great it is.

Anyways, as with She's the Man , I've seen this movie countless times (with Jordan, of course..we really are best friends, y'all)...and it really does get better every. single. time. Eeek gives me goosies, too. I love me some Denzel.
ok, so not the most attractive picture of him..but it's from the movie so, deal.
Oh, and let's not forget the very young Ryan Gosling..

he didn't have the biggest part, but it was def. necessary. such a cutie pie.
This movie is the very true, very inspirational story of the 1971 Titans football team at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA and their struggles as a newly-integrated team with a new African-American coach (Denzel Washington). Read the full synopsis here.

Here's a list of the main characters:
Denzel Washington - Coach Herman Boone
Will Patton - Coach Bill Yoast
Wood Harris - Julius Campbell
Ryan Hurst - Gerry Bertier
Donald Faison - Petey Jones
Craig Kirkwood - Jerry 'Rev' Harris
Kip Pardue - Ronnie "Sunshine" Bass
Ethan Suplee - Louie Lastik
Hayden Panettiere - Sheryl Yoast
Ryan Gosling - Alan Bosley

Remember the Titans is a great mix of the seriousness needed to portray real events, while also being a bit comical.

Here's one of absolute favorite parts...
It really shows the boys begin to connect with each other despite the ongoing stress of integration.
Not to mention, this is one of mine and my mom's all-time favorite songs!
'Cause baby there ain't no mountain hiiiiigh enough ;)

Oh, and this scene..short, sweet, and HILARIOUS.
Love that little cheesy, cutie pie. Ha!

My favorite quote...the last line of the movie.

"People say that it can't work, black and white. Here, we make it work every day. We still have our disagreements, of course, but before we reach for hate, always, always, we remember the Titans."- Older Sheryl Yoast

And I can't forget the other favorite song of mine on the soundtrack..

A classic, always. Loving James Taylor.

Lastly, I'll leave you with the trailer just in case you've never had the privilege of watching this great movie. I demand that you see it this weekend. Demand.

Hope you all have an extra fabulous weekend! And your prayers for me and all other students during exam week would be appreciated..thank you!! xo

Fun Flick Friday #1

Friday is here, my lovelies!
Now stop reading and take 5 seconds to do a happy dance..
..did ya do it? Ok, good. Me too. I'm even more excited now! ;)
After class today, I'm off to Pinetops to spend the weekend with my sweet boy and my even sweeter family! :) I can't wait!

Back to the topic of today's post...I love movies. Seriously, I've probably seen over 1,500 movies. Wish I was joking.
That was a lie. I don't wish I was joking..because I love movies.
So, I've decided to dedicate most Fridays to talking about some of my favorite movies!

Up first: She's The Man (2006)

This movie, y'all. One of the funniest ones I have ever seen, and Jordan can vouch for that. She and I have watched this movie, together, about 133568465 times. No joke. It's just that funny, and it gets funnier every. single. time.
If anyone is a Shakespeare buff out there, this movie is spin-off of Twelfth Night, Or What You Will. Basically, it's like an 8-sided love triangle octagon.
See the synopsis here. Warning: it contains spoilers..sorry!
The main character, Viola/Sebastian, is played by the oh-so-comical Amanda Bynes. Yes, you know her....Judge Trudy...BRING IN THE DANCING LOBSTAS!

Ok, maybe that it was a little after some of y'alls time considering I'm quite the "youngin'", but it's from The Amanda Show that played on Nickelodeon for quite some time.
Anyways, back to the topic. The other leading character, Duke Orsino, is played by the oh-so-sexy Channing Tatum.
ay-yi-yi!
Here are some of my favorite quotes and video clips from the movie..

Andrew: Well hey there pretty lady.
Monique : Ew! What... what are you hitting on me?
Andrew : I was just...
Monique: [mimicking] "I was just... nyuh". OK, let me put a stop to that little brain fart right now. Girls with asses like mine do not talk to boys with faces like yours

Toby: [talking about Eunice] She's got a little somethin' somethin'.
Andrew: Yeah... asthma and headgear.

Duke: Ok, w-why do you have tampons in your boot?
Viola: Um, I get really bad nose bleeds?
Andrew: So you stick 'em up your nose?
Viola: Yeah! What, you've, you've never done that?
Viola: Oh my! Beckhem does it all the time.
Duke: Serious?
Viola: Yes. Look, let me show you how to do it. Take that off and whatever that is, and, and you stick it right in. It absorbs right up!
Duke: That's disgusting!

If you haven't seen this movie yet, I strongly encourage you to go rent it/buy it this weekend and enjoy laughing your butt off! ;)

Here's the trailer for the movie, followed by a mash-up video of some of the funniest clips!

Hope you enjoyed the first of what will hopefully be many Fun Flick Friday's to come! xo
Now go soak up your weekend, lovelies!
