Fun Flick Friday #1

Friday is here, my lovelies!
Now stop reading and take 5 seconds to do a happy dance..
..did ya do it? Ok, good. Me too. I'm even more excited now! ;)
After class today, I'm off to Pinetops to spend the weekend with my sweet boy and my even sweeter family! :) I can't wait!

Back to the topic of today's post...I love movies. Seriously, I've probably seen over 1,500 movies. Wish I was joking.
That was a lie. I don't wish I was joking..because I love movies.
So, I've decided to dedicate most Fridays to talking about some of my favorite movies!

Up first: She's The Man (2006)

This movie, y'all. One of the funniest ones I have ever seen, and Jordan can vouch for that. She and I have watched this movie, together, about 133568465 times. No joke. It's just that funny, and it gets funnier every. single. time.
If anyone is a Shakespeare buff out there, this movie is spin-off of Twelfth Night, Or What You Will. Basically, it's like an 8-sided love triangle octagon.
See the synopsis here. Warning: it contains spoilers..sorry!
The main character, Viola/Sebastian, is played by the oh-so-comical Amanda Bynes. Yes, you know her....Judge Trudy...BRING IN THE DANCING LOBSTAS!

Ok, maybe that it was a little after some of y'alls time considering I'm quite the "youngin'", but it's from The Amanda Show that played on Nickelodeon for quite some time.
Anyways, back to the topic. The other leading character, Duke Orsino, is played by the oh-so-sexy Channing Tatum.
ay-yi-yi!
Here are some of my favorite quotes and video clips from the movie..

Andrew: Well hey there pretty lady.
Monique : Ew! What... what are you hitting on me?
Andrew : I was just...
Monique: [mimicking] "I was just... nyuh". OK, let me put a stop to that little brain fart right now. Girls with asses like mine do not talk to boys with faces like yours

Toby: [talking about Eunice] She's got a little somethin' somethin'.
Andrew: Yeah... asthma and headgear.

Duke: Ok, w-why do you have tampons in your boot?
Viola: Um, I get really bad nose bleeds?
Andrew: So you stick 'em up your nose?
Viola: Yeah! What, you've, you've never done that?
Viola: Oh my! Beckhem does it all the time.
Duke: Serious?
Viola: Yes. Look, let me show you how to do it. Take that off and whatever that is, and, and you stick it right in. It absorbs right up!
Duke: That's disgusting!

If you haven't seen this movie yet, I strongly encourage you to go rent it/buy it this weekend and enjoy laughing your butt off! ;)

Here's the trailer for the movie, followed by a mash-up video of some of the funniest clips!

Hope you enjoyed the first of what will hopefully be many Fun Flick Friday's to come! xo
Now go soak up your weekend, lovelies!

It's OK Thursday #2

 Almost there, y'all. Almost there.
One more day and then it's da weeeeeekend! Super pumped. Even though I'll be stuck inside writing a philosophy paper. BLECH.
I am planning to catch up on at least a little bit of sleep though, seeing as how sleep deprived I've been this week thus far. It's amazing that I made it to my 9:30 class this morning. Thanks, conscience...

Anyways, on to more important things..
Linking up with Amber at Brunch With Amber for "It's OK" Thursdays!

Its Ok Thursdays
Here..we..go!

It's OK...

...to like cold pizza and pasta more than warm pizza and pasta.

...to chow down on said cold pizza and pasta at 1:30am because late night hunger kicks in.

...to hope this weekend is ugly and rainy because I'll have to be stuck inside writing paper.

...to be super excited about my fabulous 13 followers, even when others have 100's and 1000's.

...that I only came to drama class today so that I can get my paper back.

...that I only come to drama class every other day because my prof has been blessed in the looks department.

...to want a new pair of tennis shoes even though there's nothing wrong with the ones I have now.

...to never carry cash because I'll spend it quicker.

...to be entered into like 23654841328 giveaways right now.  Don't worry..once I hit 100 followers I will be giving back. Promise!

...to wish away the next two weeks because I want to be done with school for the summer.

...to hate strongly dislike my conscience sometimes.

...that I've been writing this super short blog post for 45 minutes. I've got to get better at this..

What are you guys saying "OK" to today?
Head on over to see Amber and link-up with us!

One last thing...here's another hilarious link from #whatshouldwecallme to brighten your day! Enjoy!

Target Tuesday #3!

HEYY-O!
Hope this post is finding y'all having terrific Tuesdays!
Personally, mine would be much better if I didn't have 2 five-page papers due by Monday looming over me....boo.
Anyways, nothing like a little..

..to make it all better! ;)

this week's theme: kitchens

I love, love, love a fully stocked, easily accessible kitchen. So here are a few things that I think would help make any kitchen the perfect kitchen!

Spectrum Scroll Fruit Tree, Black, $14.99 - via
Morley Suction Sink Basket, Chrome, $7.19 - via

I realize that this may seem trivial..but it's a must.

Range Kleen Hanging Pot Rack, Walnut, $79.99 - via
I seriously dislike rummaging through my cabinets to find pots and pans. This would make life so much easier. So much easier.

Olde Thompson 20-Jar Spice Rack, $49.99 - via
KitchenAid Classic Color Utensils, Wineberry, $5.99-$15.79 - via
KitchenAid Classic Euro Peeler, Wineberry, $7.99 - via

I love kitchen utensils. They make me smile. And I can't peel anything with a knife to save my life. Haha, that rhymed. But really, I cannot. :)

KitchenAid Digital Probe Thermo, Black, $29.99 - via
Nonstick 10pc. Baker's Basics Set, $39.99 - via
I love to bake. I love to bake a lot.

Egyptian Cotton Kitchen Towel Set of 6, Taupe/Brown, $19.99 - via
I must confess...I'm a messy chef. Therefore, plenty of kitchen towels are needed.

Bialetti 5-qt. Pasta Pot, $29.99 - via
Who needs a colander? Not me...

Chefmate 4-qt. Steamer, $19.99 - via
Love my steamed veggies. Mushrooms, edamame, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini, onions...mmmm. Great, now I'm hungry.

Home Villa Scroll 16pc. Dinnerware Set, $59.99 - via
Must have pretty plates & bowls. Makes burnt casserole taste better ;)

Now if I only had this beauty to store it all in....

Don't worry..I'll keep dreamin'.

Have a great Tuesday! xo

lazy, wonderful weekend!

Happy start of a new week, y'all! :)
I thought that sounded better than 'Happy Monday'...didn't it?
Anyways,  this weekend was spent doing a whole lot of nothing, other than catching up on some much needed sleep, and it was fabulous.
Despite my Thursday night ordeal, I picked up and headed off to Charlotte on Friday to spend the weekend with my sweet boy and his even sweeter family!
I don't have much time today, so I'll just leave you with a quick of recap of what I did manage to do this weekend! ;)
Enjoy!
Friday, David and I treated ourselves like an elderly couple to K&W for dinner.
I had forgotten how good their food was. Not to mention, cheap.
Afterwards, we went back to his parent's house and I was out like a light before 10:30.

Saturday morning we were up and at 'em and off to watch David's nephew, Turner, play flag football..where he scored 2 touchdowns! I think. I know it was at least one ;) Afterward, Mr. Queen (David's dad) treated us to to lunch at McAlister's...yum!

such a cutie pie
Saturday afternoon, Laura and I laid out in the sun..and it felt so, so good. C'mon summertime!
Saturday night, we decided to make these little babies...

and they were..a success!
Ours weren't  quite this pretty, however, because we had to use a regular muffin tin. But they were still delicious! :)

Sunday, we slept in and lounged around until about 1:00 when David and I headed to the mall for some retail therapy. Here are a few of the things he got:
And I can't find pictures of the other things, but he got some khaki shorts and powder blue colored shorts (obviously, he needed new shorts), a couple t-shirts, and a super snazzy yellow, long-sleeve button-up. Ay yi yi! ;)

But more importantly, here's what I got..

Merona Milena Suede Wedges, Target, $14.98 on clearance. BAM.
Essential Belted Shorts, Coral, Forever21 - $12.80
Belted Woven Shorts, Blue and Brown, Forever21 - $13.80
Pleated Cap Sleeve Dress, Royal Blue, Forever21 - $17.80
And I also bought some super cute jewelry, but couldn't find it on their website. Boo! So you'll just have to trust me on that one :)

Hope that y'all had a wonderful weekend and enjoy the rest of your Monday! xo

pain, ER, and kidney stones...oh my!

Happy, happy Friday my lovelies!
Hope y'all are already having a fantastic start to the weekend!!
This post was supposed to the start of a fun weekly Friday post that I plan on doing from here on out, but something much more...interesting?...came up and I just had to share.
But, make sure you come back next Friday to see what this post was really supposed to be about! ;)

I'll give you details in a minute, but just because I dislike when people make me wait for something..I'll go ahead and tell you the gist of what happened.
I was in the ER last night for 5 1/2 hours with kidney stones.

Translation: I wanted to die for about 3 hours last night. Worst pain I have ever and I hope will ever feel in my life. (They say childbirth can be equivalent on the pain scale, so I guess I'm all prepared now for the future)

So let me give you the lowdown on how it all played out.
Warning: This may be quite the wordy post. But I promise to throw in some random pictures at the bottom for entertainment ;)

So, I'm currently taking 'drama' as a class here at school and we have to go see 3 plays throughout the semester, one of which was last night. Everything was fine and dandy until I got up at intermission to use the bathroom. After I got back to my seat, the pain hit me like a ton of bricks. I couldn't still still for squirming and trying to find a comfortable position. I ended up having to leave early because I felt like a distraction to those sitting around me. (Sorry, you guys!)

I miraculously made it back to my car and drove home. On the way, I called my sweet nursing student roommate, Steph, and told her that I thought something was seriously wrong because I'm generally a very pain tolerant person and I'm hardly ever sick. She was at dinner with friends but went ahead and left to come to my rescue.
**she will be receiving a complimentary roommate of the century award, no worries friends!

When Steph got to the apartment, I was lying on my bed writhing in pain and she told me that it sounded like my kidneys and gave me one option: go to the ER. I normally would have put up a bigger fight about not going and wasting my time..but I was in so much pain (about a 7/8 on a 1-10 scale) I couldn't even think straight. So off to the ER we went at about 10:30pm!

We got there and naturally, had to wait forever. At about 12:30am, I was sitting in the waiting room, pain had escalated to about a 9/10, and I closed my eyes to try not to think about the pain, and it just stopped. Instantly. And no sooner did it stop than I was out like a light. I dozed off for about 30 minutes and woke back up to the triage nurse telling me there was blood in my urine sample and that it was most likely a kidney stone. I had mixed feelings about her saying that, though. On the one hand I was glad that it was actually something and I wasn't just overreacting, but I was also super scared because I was afraid of when it might start up again.

I ended up having a CT scan of my renal area and an ultrasound of my kidneys. The ultrasound didn't show anything, but the CT scan did. I had one larger kidney stone in my bladder (the one that was causing all of the pain) and a bunch of little ones in both of my kidneys (not what I wanted to hear, obviously). So, they gave me a strainer to catch the little boogers when they pass and sent me on my way! I got to sleep around 4:30 this morning, and missed both of my classes today. I'd already been up to 5:00am once this week and still went to class but it wasn't happening again.

I'm not kidding when I say this y'all.....but PRAY that this never happens to you or anyone else you know, for that matter. And if it already has, I am so, so sorry. I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on my worst enemy. It was unbearable, and nothing eased it. I mean, nothing.

I've never had kidney stones before, and neither has anyone in my family. So needless to say I was little shocked and unpleasantly surprised to know that I had more than one. But hopefully the little ones won't be quite as painful as the one trying to pass last night, and please, please pray for me that after these are all gone...I never have another one, because I know that tends to be the case when you have a kidney stone.  :(

Now, I just want to give the best roommate AND her boyfriend the biggest thank-you I will probably ever give to anyone. They stuck by me for the entire 5 1/2 hours and I am so, so grateful. I don't know many people other than my family that would do that for me and I will forever indebted to them because if it weren't for Steph and Coleman making me go to the ER, I would have lied in bed all night just hoping and praying it would go away.  (yes, I'm that stubborn)

Here's a picture of them:
love them so much
   And last but not least...
I BLAME THIS ON FRIDAY, THE 13TH.
Granted, my pain started on the 12th, but I got the "diagnosis" on the 13th. So there. It works. UGH!
dun, dun, dunnnnn
Ok, maybe that was a tad bit dramatic. But, oh well.

Here are some funny pictures I found on #WhatShouldWeCallMe  so I can leave you guys on a happy note! Enjoy them and your weekend! xo
