"check it" - [bachelorette recap #2]

 I'm back!
Well, sort of.
My computer is still feeling a little under the weather..so I'm having to post from my dad's ancient heap of metal that works very slowly. Boooo.
Anyways, it's time for a little reality tv recap!
That's right...The Bachelorette Recap #2.
And I just came across a Bachelorette link-up over at a sweet friend, Meg, from More from Meg's blog!

TheBacheloretteDish

So, here we go!!

Warning: There will be a few spoilers, so don't read yet if you haven't watched! ;)

Ok, so....RYAN.
Ay-yi-yi. So glad he got the first date. And even more glad that I actually got to SEE part of this date in person! Remember back in March when I told y'all that I was headed to Charlotte for the weekend to visit David and that I was planning on stalking Emily? Well, I did. And I found her (with the help of David's sister-in-law and the radio).
We didn't see much, but we saw them arrive at the restaurant, Osso. We would've stayed afterward to watch them dance to Gloriana's "Kissed You", but they went in to eat at 9:45 and didn't come out until 12:30. I ain't that kind of stalker crazy.

Please excuse the quality of these pictures. I was fighting my way through a crowd of girls that were just as crazed as myself, and I wasn't trying to end up in jail or the hospital for throwing punches... ;)
cameramen getting ready in front of the restaurant
pulling in!
there she is!!
the side of Ryan's head...oh yeah.
And I do have a video of them getting out of the car and walking into the restaurant, but this dinosaur of a computer that I'm typing on would take all day to upload it. :(
I'll try to upload it when my computer reincarnates.

Moving on...
My thoughts on Ryan's date: amazing.
I'll admit, he seemed a little hesitant at the beginning when she told him the plans for the first part of the date, but I honestly believe that was just because he was simply caught off guard, not because he didn't think it was cool. He quickly warmed up to the whole idea and had a great perspective on the whole thing (i.e. "this is what life would really be like"). Personally, I've never been a fan of all the glamorous once-in-a-lifetime dates. Don't get me wrong...they're fun to watch. However, real life ISN'T like it. Of course it's easy to fall in love with someone when you're in Fiji or the Swiss Alps and then it becomes just as easy to fall out of love with them when you're stuck in the good 'ole U.S.A. without unlimited expenses to travel. Why do we think the Bachelor/Bachelorette series only has a 13% success rate?! I think we've found the problem...

Anyway, bottom line...I like Ryan. A lot.
Oh, and I totally respect that Emily didn't kiss him on the first date. She's really taking this whole thing seriously and not moving too fast. And she's being very classy since she DOES have a daughter that will probably watch this one day. (Hopefully beside her new daddy, Ryan)

Moving on: the group date.
I'm gonna keep this short and sweet.
I like Charlie and love him even more for not being afraid to admit his shortcomings to Emily. That in itself shows that he DOES have more confidence than he thinks. 2 pts. for Charlie :)
Charlie
Jef. I'm not sure I will ever understand what Emily sees in him. I'm not saying that I dislike him, but he does kind of give me iffy feelings sometimes. I wonder if he's trying to play hard to get OR playing the whole "i need reassurance" card (i.e. Courtney)? News flash dude: that comes across as needy and I don't find it cute. However, I'm not the bachelorette and Emily seems to be digging it -- he got the group date rose (which I totally thought should've gone to Chris or Charlie). Also, he seems like a teenage boy to me. You know, riding in on the skateboard with the Fonzi poof going on. Blech.
Jef.
 Now: Joe's date.

First off: What a jerk.
Ok, now that I got that out..I can continue.
From the get-go, I thought it was very odd that Emily chose him for a one-on-one date. But my best friend Jordan reminded me that it could've been because she was unsure about him and wanted to get a clear answer to her iffy feelings. Jordan was correct. Emily ain't playing, y'all.
For the experienced bachelor/bachelorette watchers, I'm sure it was all obvious to us that this wasn't going anywhere. But 'ole Joe had no idea. Whoops. Poor Emily broke it to him as easily as she could and she was visibly upset about the whole ordeal, but jerk-off Joe just up and left once he found out he wasn't getting the rose. (Ahem, douche) HE DIDN'T EVEN HUG HER GOODBYE!
don't let this face fool you - PUBLIC ENEMY #1
Personally, I think everyone should have to be 'kicked off' at some point just so that Em can see what their reaction is because I think that is one of the biggest tests of character that you can have. Joe was all hunky dory until he got booted and things went bad, and then he turned into the Hulk. Ok, maybe it wasn't that serious but he definitely could have afforded to be a little nicer to Em. Like I said, it was obvious that it hurt her to send him home so early. And c'mon, Joe. You had known her for all of about 3 days at that point. You WEREN'T that emotionally attached. Get over yourself.

Lastly: the rose ceremony.
Short and sweet here, as well.
Kalon is a total punk. I was right about not liking him. He's pulling a Vienna/Courtney move by being all sweet and charming to Em's face, but being a total butt-face to the guys behind her back. Hopefully the you-know-what will hit the fan for him and he'll be thrown back to TX where he can continue to be a "luxury brand consultant" --whatever the heck that is.

Yes, Kalon. We did. PUBLIC ENEMY #2.

As for my bracket, I got 14 out of the 16 guys correct. She ended up giving a rose to Alessandro and Travis, when I had predicted that they would go to Kyle and Aaron. Oh, well.

Who are you guys rooting for this week? Are you favorites still your favorites and your enemies still your enemies? What did you think about Joe's exit? Let me know!!

Have a wonderful Tuesday, ya'll! xo

Kalon even looks like a douchebag! I'm sure he'll be sticking around a while longer just for the sake of "good TV."

love love love Ryan! loved that they baked and that he loved her dressed down! the only thing he loses points for is the timing of the long note!

-charlie was precious and jef while i think they'd be an odd pair, i think he was truly taken aback by her interest in him.

Love your recap! I totally agree about Kalon!!! And I said the same thing about Joe not hugging her after the date. I know she didn't pick him, but c'mon, what a jerk move. I'm hoping it picks up a little more next week. Btw, so cool that you were scoping out her date with Ryan!!! lol.

what you go to see her how cool!! i wonder if they made the date so late so emily could still make dinner and put ricki to bed but tat is a long time to be at diner but i guess they have to get to know each other you can't eat and be out of there within 20 minutes. and haha i love the you think they would figure out i am a douchebag, yes kalon we know that and i want to know why emily is keeping you around still

This was an awesome recap...it helps that I got to see the episode on time this week.

AGREE WITH YOU 100% on EVERYTHING!

My top 3 faves...
- Ryan (liked him from second .001),
- Doug (though he already has a child and she may want to have a man's 100% attention...which I don't blame her for considering her circumstances) and
- Charlie. Not sure about his overall character yet, but I really liked the fact that he was honest about his insecurity.
- Okay...and Chris...tied with charlie.

I still think it's going to be Ryan. (???)

When I saw her date with Ryan last night, I remembered that you said you were going to try to find her. So cool! I should go back and watch the episode and see if I can spot you. Haha!

By the way, I think Jef is 12. ;)
